How to Remove Sunscreen Stains From Your Clothes?

We all know how important sunscreen is for our skin and how it protects it. We also know that we need to wear it at all times – no matter the season. I know that it may be tempting to skip applying sunscreen during the winter but it’s not worth the long-term damage it will have on your skin.

With that in mind, applying sunscreen before you leave your house every day most likely leads to stains on your clothes because in the morning you are a bit clumsy. This is why I am going to show you how to remove these stains as easily as possible!

How to Remove Sunscreen Stains From Your Clothes?

First thing you need to do is try to lift as much sunscreen as possible. I like to do this with a spoon so I can easily scoop it. You also need to treat the area with liquid detergent – I like to use laundry detergent.

But if you can’t treat the stain quickly, just remove as much of it as possible and then sprinkle cornstarch or baking soda on it. If you are on the beach, you can even use sand – I know it sounds weird but trust me, it’s better than leaving the stain untreated. The powder will absorb the oil from the sunscreen and then you can remove the stain later.

When you do apply the laundry detergent to the stained area, scrub with a soft-bristled brush, wait for a few minutes, and then rinse with cold water.

And last – wash the clothing item as usual, either by hand or in the washing machine depending on what is recommended on the care label.
